Launched in conjunction with Singapore Art Week, Pearl Lam Galleries is pleased to present the “After Asphodel” artist process booklet. Meant as a companion to Luke Heng’s second solo exhibition in Singapore, the booklet reveals Heng’s ephemeral art-making process, and features a curatorial foreword by Pearl Lam Galleries' Managing Director - Asia, Josef Ng, an essay by artist and curator Michael Lee, and poems from writer Euginia Tan.
Known chiefly for his alluring visual examinations of painting as a subject and medium, the new works on show mark the evolution of Heng’s practice as he ventures beyond the realms of two-dimensional and wall-based sculptural art. These evocations include paintings, wax works, and for the first time, a site-specific installation. Born in 1987, Heng is interested in the dialectics between painting, object, and picture making. He actively practices art locally and internationally, after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2013.
"After Asphodel" is presented by Pearl Lam Galleries from 2 December 2017 to 25 February 2018. Download the artist process booklet here.
