Ai Weiwei - Baby Formula

From August 24 to October 6, Michael Janssen Singapore will be showing Ai Weiwei's first solo exhibition in Southeast Asia.

Ai Weiwei's socio-political artistic statements have made him an international name. The controversy over the restrictions of purchasing baby formula in China and Hong Kong has personally affected the artist - he has a four year-old son. For his Singapore show, he has developed two series of prints, which will be shown together with an 860 square-feet floor installation composed of more than 1,800 cans of baby formula.

Ai Weiwei was born in 1957 in Beijing, China. He has been in solo exhibitions in the Brooklyn Museum, the 55th Venice Biennale, Indianapolis Museum of Art, St. Moritz Art Masters, Cleveland Museum of Art, Miami Art Museum, Arken Museum of Modern Art, Museu da Imagem e do Som, São Paulo, Brazil ; Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, Sevilla, Spain; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C.; Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.; De Pont Museum, Tillburg, Netherlands; Victoria & Albert Museum, London, UK; Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei; Louisiana Museum of Modern Art; Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland; Kunsthaus Graz, Austria ; Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria; Tate Modern, London; Museum DKM; Stiftung DKM, Duisburg, Germany; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan;  Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, Campbelltown Arts Center, Sydney, Australia; Groninger Museum, Groningen, The Netherlands.
